Learn about the Fairwood Subarea Plan!
The King County Department of Local Services is working on the Fairwood Subarea Plan.
This plan will guide how the Fairwood community grows and changes over the next 20 years. It will include goals and policies to help both the community and King County government improve quality of life for everyone who lives, works, or spends time in Fairwood. We are focused on real, equitable improvements for all.
The plan will cover topics such as:
Land use and zoning
Housing and human services
Environment
Parks, open space, and cultural resources
Transportation
Services and utilities
Economic development
Community participation is a key part of the planning process. What we hear from Fairwood area community members will help shape the plan. The King County Executive will send a recommended plan to the County Council in 2027 for review.
This subarea plan is part of the larger King County Comprehensive Plan, which guides growth and services in areas outside city limits (called unincorporated King County). Subarea plans help King County better serve specific communities and make sure decisions support both local and regional goals.
