Introducing San Antonio's newest Cultural Heritage District!
Introduction
In 2022, City Council District 8 Councilmember Manny Pelaez initiated the creation of a new cultural heritage district celebrating the cultures that met along historic Silk Roads. Located largely along the Wurzbach corridor near the Medical Center, the district will highlight and celebrate the rich traditions of the Middle Eastern, North African, and Asian immigrants here. Updates
The Office of Historic Preservation hosted three community listening sessions and has met with multiple stakeholders during the last few months. Staff has prepared a draft report and needs your feedback.
Deadline: December 12 - Review the draft report by clicking on the tab above and provide your feedback using the comment feature in SASpeakup. The draft is currently unformatted for ease of translation. A formatted version will be finalized after December 12.
December 18 - Review by the Historic and Design Review Commission (HDRC) at a public hearing.
