The Sports and Entertainment District is expected to be completed in 2 phases over 15 years. 

Phase 1 (1-5 years):

The funding plan for the District has not been decided yet. The City has made a list of possible ways to pay for the proposed District. However, a final plan will be created based on studies, financial analysis, and talks with private developers. As the plans move forward, more details about the funding will be shared with the community.

The City has identified potential funding sources for the District. Two of the potential funding sources include the County Venue Tax and a General Obligation Bond for infrastructure improvements, which would require a public vote.

The Spurs are conducting research to include the projected cost of a downtown arena located within the proposed District. Constructing a Spurs arena in the District would require contributions from the Spurs, County, City and private sources. The Spurs, County, and City will develop a proposed shared funding plan for the arena.   

Yes. City staff and experts will work with the community. They will find parking solutions, address traffic flow and avoid problems for nearby neighborhoods.
